Master class in Composition for young composers

This master class is dedicated to young composers from Arabic countries and from Iran.


During 2 weeks,  renowned Austrian composer Johanna Doderer will work with young composers on pieces for piano trio or solo instruments. The class is dedicated to elaborate own compositions for piano trio (or solo instruments) which will be performed publicly by a professional ensemble specialized in contemporary music.


The class will provide

•2 weeks intensive workshop on composition (one week in Feistritz Castle near Vienna, one week in Vienna)

•Elaboration of pieces together with professional musicians specialized in performing   contemporary music (i.a. Édua Zádory, www.eduazadory.net)

•Public concert presenting the pieces in Ehrbar Concert Hall, Vienna

•Recording of final concert

•A unique possibility for exchange with artists from both Arabic and Persian as well as European countries and for contact with personalities from Vienna’s music scene

•The fee of Euro 980.- will cover classes, transfers, accommodation and public concert


Johanna Doderer is internationally renowned for her opera-compositions. Her works are performed frequently throughout Europe. She taught several master classes in Europe, USA, Iran and the Arabic World. For more information see www.doderer.at


The master class is intended for young composers living and working in Arabian countries and Iran. If you are interested in attending the master class you are invited to send scores or sketches of your work (maximum 3 different pieces) until March 30th 2012 to ccv@aacam.at. Participation will be confirmed by beginning of May 2012.
